FWPD: Fatal Motorcycle Accident, West Jefferson Boulevard and Catalpa Street

On August 9, 2026, at 1205 hour, the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to intersection of West Jefferson Boulevard and Catalpa Street, Fort Wayne, Indiana, in reference to a reported motorcycle accident.

This is the third motorcycle accident (7/18/2026 and 8/1/2026) at this intersection the Fort Wayne Police Department has responded to since July 18, 2026. The first two resulted in critical injuries.

Fort Wayne Police Department incident Report Details/Summary:

On Sunday, August 9th, 2026, around 12:05 a.m., officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) responded to intersection of W. Jefferson Blvd. and Catalpa St. in reference to a reported motorcycle crash. Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive near a motorcycle. Medics arrived and pronounced the male deceased. Due to the fatality, the FWPD’s Fatal Accident Crash Team and Air Support Unit responded to assist with the investigation.

Preliminary information indicates that the motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on W. Jefferson Blvd. when he stuck a guardrail, lost control of the motorcycle, and came to rest in a grassy area near the intersection. The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation. No additional information is available at this time. Eastbound W. Jefferson Blvd. is currently closed at Freeman St. while investigators process the scene. Westbound traffic remains open. The roadway is expected to reopen within two hours.
