Officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a motorcycle crash at the intersection of W. Jefferson Boulevard and Catalpa Street at approximately 12:04 a.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2026.
Upon arrival, officers located one motorcyclist suffering from serious injuries. The rider was transported by medics to a local hospital, where their condition was later updated to life-threatening. Due to the severity of the injuries, the Fort Wayne Police Department’s Fatal Accident Crash Team & Air Support Unit was called to assist with the investigation.
Preliminary information indicates that two motorcyclists were traveling eastbound on W. Jefferson Boulevard and were believed to be racing prior to the crash. Both motorcycles crashed near the intersection of Catalpa Street. The second motorcyclist left the scene before first responders arrived.
The investigation remains ongoing. Eastbound Jefferson Blvd is closed at Catalpa Street and the westbound remains open during the investigation. The roadway is expected to be open in the next hour.
