Sixth annual Diversity Week focuses on community service, diversity, support
(November 10, 2014) – Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) celebrates its sixth annual Diversity Week with three special events on November 11-13 in the Walb Student Union Classic Ballroom.
Over 1,200 students, faculty, staff, and community members attended last year’s Diversity Week programs.All events are free and open to the public.
Community Service Fair on November 11, noon to 2 p.m.
Diversity Week opens with the second annual Community Service Fair on November 11 from noon to 2 p.m. in the Walb Student Union Classic Ballroom.
The Community Service Fair connects students and community members with local agencies and not-for-profits. Attendees will learn about both the services these non-profits provide and the volunteer opportunities available. Free snacks will be provided. Diversity Showcase on November 12, 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
The Diversity Showcase takes place on Wednesday, November 12, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Walb Student Union Classic Ballroom.
Departments and organizations from around the university will share programs and achievements demonstrating how diversity enhances and impacts IPFW. Lunch will be provided in a multicultural food court. For more information, contact the Office of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs at 260-481-6608.
NOH8 Campaign on November 13, 4-6 p.m.
Diversity Week closes with the second annual NOH8 @ IPFW Campaign on Thursday, November 13, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Walb Student Union Classic Ballroom. NOH8 @ IPFW is sponsored by both IPFW and Ivy Tech Community College-Northeast.
The event celebrates civility, respect, diversity, and equality by asking attendees to make a stand against hate in all forms. Participants can take a “NOH8” photograph to show their support. Free snacks will be provided. For more information, contact the Office of Student Life and Leadership at 260-481-6609.
