Allen County Blood Drives Cancelled Due to Winter Storm

The American Red Cross blood drives scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 2, at the American Red Cross Donor Centers located at 1212 E. California Road and at Lutheran Hospital have been cancelled. These centers will resume operations on Thursday, Feb. 3.

Although these blood drives are cancelled, the Red Cross encourages donors to please make an appointment to give in the coming weeks to help maintain a stable blood supply.

Traditional whole blood or double red cell donation:

  • Monday and Tuesday: 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Wednesday and Thursday: noon – 6 p.m.
  • Friday and Saturday: 8 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Platelet pheresis donation (call 1-800-589-8127 or 260-480-8299 to schedule a platelet donation):

  • Monday: 6:30 a.m. – 6 p.m.
  • Tuesday: 11:30 a.m. – 6 p.m.
  • Wednesday: 11:30 a.m. – 6 p.m.
  • Thursday: 11:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Friday: 6:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
  • Saturday: 6:30 a.m. – noon
  • Sunday: 8:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

Lutheran Hospital Donor Center located at 7900 W. Jefferson Blvd., Suite 107 in Fort Wayne (in the South Lobby of Lutheran Hospital) Traditional whole blood or platelet pheresis donation (no platelet pheresis on Wednesdays):

  • Monday through Wednesday: noon – 6 p.m.
  • Thursday through Saturday: 6 a.m. – noon

 

How to Donate Blood
To schedule an appointment to donate, please call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visit redcrossblood.org for more information. Individuals who are 17 years of age (16 with parental permission in some states), meet weight and height requirements (110 pounds or more, depending on their height) and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. Please bring your Red Cross blood donor card or other form of positive ID when you come to donate.
