Press release from IPFW:

Fort Wayne Wireless Summer School at IPFW

(July 8, 2010) – Plans are already underway for next year’s Fort Wayne Wireless Summer School, following a highly successful and well-attended session hosted June 16-17 by the Wireless Technology Center at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW).

“The IPFW Wireless Technology Center is establishing itself as an innovative technology leader in our industry,” said attendee Mike Conforti, director of product design engineering at ITT. “Their ability to bring together key leaders from industry and government at the Wireless Summer School to discuss and move the current state forward on topics such as Dynamic Spectrum Access Management is yet another example of the value delivered by the center.”

ITT has worked in close partnership with IPFW in establishing the Wireless Technology Center and hired Dr. Todor Cooklev as the founding director two years ago. Last year was the first year that the center offered the Wireless Summer School. Next year’s dates for the school are June 15-16, 2011.

This year’s school included two full days of presentations by nationally recognized speakers, including representatives from the National Security Agency, the U.S. Army Research Laboratory, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), Southwest Research Institute, DRS Technologies, ITT Corporation, National Instruments, The George Washington University, and Virginia Tech, among others.

The focus of this year’s symposium was on development platforms and instrumentation equipment, with additional presentations and tutorials that captured the state of wireless technology in the government and defense markets. A panel discussion, led by representatives from the Northeast Indiana Innovation Center and the Indiana Economic Development Corporation, highlighted opportunities for high-technology entrepreneurs and investors in Northeast Indiana.

The Wireless Summer School was sponsored by the ITT Corporation and Access Technology Across Indiana (ATAIN), with the Indiana Radio Frequency Alliance and Rohde Schwarz serving as event partners.
