Fort Wayne Falls Behind Early in Front of Sellout Crowd of 8,050
Fort Wayne, Indiana (August 29, 2026) – The Fort Wayne TinCaps lost the final night game at Parkview Field in the 2026 season to the Dayton Dragons (Reds affiliate) 7-3 in front of a sellout crowd of 8,050.
Fort Wayne (51-72, 23-32) got a three-hit performance from catcher Carlos Rodriguez in the loss. It was his 13th multi-hit game and third three-hit showing for Rodriguez in 2026. The 23-year-old drove in a pair on his single back up the middle in the seventh frame. Center fielder Kasen Wells got the TinCaps on the board with a two-out RBI single in the sixth inning, giving him a hit in 10 of his last 12 games.
Dayton (64-59, 25-32) launched four home runs in their series-clinching win over the ‘Caps. First baseman Ty Doucette got the party started with a two-run blast in the first inning. It’s the fifth long ball for Doucette in 19 games with the Dragons, and he now has a knock in 10 straight showings.
Designated hitter John Michael Faile clobbered his second home run in as many games with his two-run shot in the third. The 26-year-old doubled in the first inning, giving him four two-baggers in the series. Catcher Ryan McCrystal hit his fourth homer in High-A this year an inning after Faile left the yard.
McCrystal finished a triple shy of the cycle, with his third-inning double being his team-leading 19th of the campaign. Left fielder Jacob Friend hit the final homer in the fifth frame. His solo shot was his second in as many days and his third against Fort Wayne this season.
Right-hander Mason Morris (No. 25 Reds prospect) got the victory for Dayton in his High-A debut. The former Ole Miss Rebel did not allow a hit until there were two outs in the fifth inning. After issuing a leadoff walk, Morris retired 13 consecutive batters.
