One portion of preliminary work for the much-anticipated Vann Family Crossing Pedestrian Bridge over Coliseum Boulevard will begin at 8 p.m., September 13, 2026.

Traffic Alert: Preliminary Utility Work for Pufferbelly Trail Bridge Begins Sunday
Fort Wayne, Indiana (September 10, 2026) — One portion of preliminary work for the much-anticipated Pufferbelly Trail Pedestrian Bridge over Coliseum Boulevard will begin at 8 p.m. Sunday, September 13, 2026.
City Utilities crews will relocate a sewer line that must be moved before construction of the bridge, known as the Vann Family Crossing, can proceed.
The work will close the right eastbound lane of West Coliseum Boulevard in the 400 block, east of Lima Road, for approximately five days. Eastbound traffic will continue using the left lane. Motorists should expect delays, but access to restaurants and businesses along this stretch of Coliseum Boulevard will remain open.
The Vann Family Crossing is expected to open in late winter 2027. The Pufferbelly Trail is part of the Poka-Bache Connector, an 80-mile Indiana Visionary Trail that will eventually stretch from Ouabache State Park in Bluffton to Pokagon State Park in Angola, traveling through Wells, Allen, DeKalb and Steuben counties.
