The James Foundation Awards $1 Million Gift to Support Tuition Assistance for Pearl Arts Music Academy
Fort Wayne, Indiana (August 31, 2026) – Pearl Arts announced today a transformative $1 million gift from The James Foundation to expand tuition assistance for students enrolled in the Pearl Arts Music Academy. This landmark investment ensures that young musicians across Northeast Indiana—regardless of financial circumstance—can access high‑ quality private lessons and the life ‑ changing opportunities that come with sustained music education.
The gift significantly strengthens Pearl Arts’ commitment to equitable access. With more than 500 students participating weekly and a growing number of students requiring financial support, The James Foundation’s generosity will enable Pearl Arts to meet rising demand and open doors for even more young people to study piano, strings, voice, winds, percussion, and guitar with exceptional faculty.
In announcing the gift, Vicki and Rick James, founders of The James Foundation, shared, “Music is a universal language that has no boundaries yet needs to be carefully taught and nurtured. We believe that music education, like that offered at The Pearl Arts Music Academy, is not a privilege, but an essential part of the human experience. We are encouraged by these young people’s dedication to their instruments and know they will be adults that will continue to inspire community.
Pearl Arts CEO Angie Fincannon expressed deep gratitude for The James Foundation’s vision and leadership.
“This extraordinary gift from The James Foundation is an investment in our community’s youth, in their families, and in the future of our region,” she said. “We are profoundly grateful for Rick and Vicki’s commitment to education and their belief in our mission. Music education at Pearl Arts equips young people with the confidence, discipline, and creative life skills that prepare them to become capable, community-minded young adults.”
The James Foundation invites corporations, foundations, and individuals passionate about music, arts, and culture to join in them in making a commitment as a matching challenge gift. The funds will be directed at the Pearl Arts Music Academy to provide tuition support for lessons, the cornerstone of musical development, and will immediately expand access to music across the community for youth aged 4 to 18.
