Fort Wayne Falls in One-Run Wednesday Night Showdown
Fort Wayne, Indiana (August 26, 2026) – The Fort Wayne TinCaps lost their 13th one-run game of the season in Wednesday night’s 2-1 loss against the Dayton Dragons (Reds affiliate) at Parkview Field.
Fort Wayne (50-70, 23-31) scored their lone run in the third inning on a triple from center fielder Conner Westenberg that turned into a Little League homer, with a throwing error allowing him to score. It’s Westenberg’s second triple with the ‘Caps this season and fourth extra-base hit in 15 High-A games. Left fielder Kasen Wells doubled in the third inning and now has a hit in 8 of his last 9 games.
Dayton (62-58, 23-31) struck first in the second inning on an RBI double from catcher Ryan McCrystal. It was McCrystal’s 40th run batted in this season and his team-leading 18th double in 64 games. First baseman Ty Doucette blasted his third home run of the season with the Dragons in the third frame, giving him an extra-base knock in both games of the week.
Right-hander Edgar Colon collected the win for the Dragons. The starter cruised through five innings and gave up one run on four hits. It’s the first win for Colon in High-A as he struck out eight in the process. Colon has punched out 13 batters across nine innings in his last two starts.
