Fans Pack Parkview Field for Eighth Sellout Crowd of Season in Friday Night Loss
Fort Wayne, Indiana (August 7, 2026) – 7,940 fans packed Parkview Field in Fort Wayne’s Friday night 14-4 loss to the West Michigan Whitecaps (Tigers affiliate).
Fort Wayne (46-57, 19-19) scored three of their four runs in the seventh inning, sending eight batters to the plate. Second baseman Bradley Frye collected his first multi-hit game in High-A, going 2-for-4 with a double in the seventh. Shortstop Justin DeCriscio and center fielder Ryan Wideman (No. 4 Padres prospect) also each picked up two hits in the loss.
West Michigan (46-58, 22-18) scored nine runs in the final four innings, including five in the sixth frame when all nine batters stepped up to the plate for the visitors. Left fielder Beau Ankeney launched his second homer of the series and in his time with the Whitecaps with a three-run blast in the sixth.
Center fielder Andrew Sojka and third baseman Juan Hernandez combined to score six times out of the bottom two spots of the West Michigan order. Shortstop Bryce Rainer drove in three runs, highlighted by an RBI double in the first inning.
