Celebrate the new school year at the FWCS Back-to-School Block Party
Fort Wayne, Indiana (July 29, 2026) – Families are invited to celebrate the start of a new school year at the annual FWCS Back-to-School Block Party.
Enjoy a free morning of fun, entertainment and helpful back-to-school resources from 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, Aug. 1, in the Bill C. Anthis Center parking lot, 1200 South Barr Street, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
More than 50 FWCS departments and community partners will be on hand to help families prepare for the upcoming school year. The first 500 students who complete an FWCS Back-to-School Block Party passport activity book during the event will receive a backpack and free school supplies.
Activities and resources include:
- Backpack giveaways (while supplies last)
- Transportation information
- Health & Wellness services
- Free snacks (while supplies last)
- Music
- Video game experience
- Face painting
- School registration
- And much more!
Families will also have the opportunity to connect with local colleges and universities, the Fort Wayne Area PTA Council, the Allen County Public Library, the Fort Wayne Fire Department and many other community organizations.
The 2026-27 school year begins for students Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2026.
