City of Fort Wayne staff have responded to the more than 500 questions and comments submitted on the City’s website regarding the proposed homeless resource enter.

City of Fort Wayne addresses questions/comments about proposed homeless resource center
Fort Wayne, Indiana (July 14, 2026) – City of Fort Wayne staff thank area residents for taking the time to provide input regarding the proposed homeless resource center on the Engage Fort Wayne website. There were more than 500 entries submitted and responses from staff are now posted online.
Questions/comments are listed in the order in which they were posted and have not been altered except to remove the names and addresses of people submitting information and, in one case, to omit an unsubstantiated allegation of a crime.
The City launched the online engagement page on June 24 and questions and comments were taken for two weeks, until 9 a.m. on Thursday, July 9.
The proposed resource center, operated by the newly formed nonprofit agency Anchor Resource Center, will serve as a 24/7 hub for families and individuals facing homelessness. The center will provide coordinated services to connect people experiencing homelessness with housing, job training and employment, and mental and physical healthcare.
“The online engagement tool allowed us to answer more questions than we could have during a public forum and offered residents the chance to submit questions and comments any time of day or night from their phones or computers,” said Chief of Staff Andrew Downs. “We appreciate the input from the public and will use the comments to help shape the plans for the homeless resource center.”
The draft operations and security plans approved by the Anchor Resource Center Board of Directors, as well as the list of all properties considered for the location of the center, will be provided to City Council members for their review.
