FWFD: House Fire, 4000 block Springwood Drive

On July 5, 2026, at 1343 hours, the Fort Wayne Fire Department was dispatched to a house fire in the 4000 block of Springwood Drive, Fort Wayne, Indiana.

On Scene: 1347 hours
Under Control: 1402 hours

The Fort Wayne Fire Department was alerted by a passerby that called 9-1-1 upon seeing smoke coming from a neighbor’s roof. Engine 4 arrived to find a two-story split-level home with smoke issuing from the ridge vents of the roof. Firefighters entered through the front door to find a fire in the kitchen area. The fire was extinguished within 15 minutes of the department arriving on the scene. Several firefighters remained at the scene to overhaul the structure and to make sure there was no fire.

The fire is under investigation.

Unfortunately, one dog and one cat perished from smoke inhalation and the heat.

Water Damage: Minor
Smoke Damage: Heavy
