FWPD: Shooting Investigation Arrest, 3000 block Oliver Street

On June 26, 2026, at 1625 hours, the Fort Wayne Police Department took Joseph Oscar Thomas Jr., 3000 block of Oliver Street, into custody in connection with a stabbing/shooting investigation which occurred on June 20, 2026.

Suspect Arrested: Joseph Oscar Thomas Jr., 35 yo
Preliminary Charges:

  1. Attempted Murder – Level 1 Felony
  2. Aggravated Battery

Fort Wayne Police Department incident report Details/Summary:

On Saturday, June 20th, 2026, at approximately 02:27 hrs., the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 2600 block of Weisser Park Avenue in reference to a stabbing investigation. Upon arrival, Fort Wayne Police Officers located a victim with multiple stab wounds who was transported to a local hospital in life-threatening condition.

After a thorough investigation, the Fort Wayne Police Department Homicide Unit identified Joseph Thomas Jr., 35 years old, as the suspect in the investigation. On June 26th, 2026, Detectives with the Homicide Task Force located Thomas in the 3000 block of Oliver Street where he was arrested. Thomas was transported to the Allen County Jail and was charged with Attempted Murder and Aggravated Battery
