The Allen County Coroner has identified Erik John Anderson as the 12th Allen County Homicide in 2026.
News release from the Allen County Coroner:
Fort Wayne, Indiana (May 20, 2026) – The Allen County Coroner’s Office was notified on Monday, May 18th, 2026, by the Fort Wayne Police Department in reference to an Officer involved shooting that took place at 1800 block of Howell Street, Fort Wayne, Indiana. The decedent was pronounced dead at the scene by Three Rivers Ambulance Authority.
Identified was Erik John Anderson, Male, White age 47 of Fort Wayne, Indiana. The autopsy has been completed and the next of kin has been notified.
Erik John Anderson’s Cause of death is Multiple Gunshot Wounds, and the Manner of Death is Homicide-Police Action Shooting.
Erik John Anderson is the 12th Homicide for Allen County in 2026.
The incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, Indiana State Police, Allen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
