Fort Wayne, Indiana (April 30, 2026) – The Fort Wayne Police Department is investigating a fatal crash involving a motorcycle and a semi-truck that occurred in the 5300 block of Illinois Road.
At approximately 3:54 p.m., officers responded to a report of a crash near 5300 Illinois Road. Preliminary investigation indicates that a motorcycle traveling eastbound on Illinois Road collided with a semi-truck that was pulling out from a private drive at th at location. Following the collision, both the motorcycle and the semi-truck caught fire.
The driver of the semi-truck was not injured. The motorcyclist was ransported to a local hospital, where they were pronounced deceased at 4:01 p.m. The identity of the motorcyclist is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Currently, alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash. The driver of the semi-truck is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
Illinois Road is expected to remain closed for approximately three hours while the Fort Wayne Police Department’s Fatal Crash Investigation Team and Air Support Team process the scene. This incident remains under investigation. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
