On June 8, 2025, at 1826 hours, the Fort Wayne Fire Department was dispatched to the 1700 block of Franklin Avenue for a house fire.

Fort Wayne Fire Engine 7 was on the scene in less than one minute from being dispatched. Upon their arrival, they discovered heavy fire in an area between a 2-story residential structure and a large 2-story detached garage with fire involvement in both buildings. The electrical power line to the structure also burned away and was along the front of the structures.
Crews worked to contain and extinguish the fires quickly. They conducted a search and found 2 cats which were removed safely. The fire was brought under control in just over 15 minutes.

Water Damage: Moderate
Smoke Damage: Moderate
The Fort Wayne Fire Department was assisted by the Three Rivers Ambulance Authority, the Fort Wayne Police Department, City of Fort Wayne Neighborhood Code Enforcement, and Indiana Michigan Power.
