The City of Fort Wayne is offering sand and sandbags at the Three Rivers Water Filtration Plant beginning today for residents concerned about flooding on their property.

Sandbags available for residents concerned about flooding on their property
Fort Wayne, Indiana (April 4, 2025) – The City of Fort Wayne is offering sand and sandbags at the Three Rivers Water Filtration Plant beginning today at 1:00 p.m. for residents concerned about flooding on their property. The public access portion of the Water Filtration Plant is located at 500 Baltes Avenue, just over the Lafayette/Spy Run bridge. Citizens are required to bring their own shovels to fill the bags.
The City of Fort Wayne Flood Control Department is continuing to monitor the river levels which are projected to crest at approximately the top of only minor flood levels. As a precautionary measure, the Greenwood Avenue gate entrance into Swinney Park has been closed to prevent possible flooding in nearby neighborhoods.
