Webmaster’s note: Suspect Valerie Rose Hardiek, 22 years of age, was arrested in Van Wert County, Ohio on June 20, 2021.

On June 20th, 2021 at 6:48 pm, the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a 9-1-1 hang-up call in the 1800 block of Eileen Street.

On June 20th, 2021 at approximately 6:48 pm Officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a 9-1-1 hang up call at the 1800 block of Eileen St. Officers made contact with the complainant party who was suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The victim was an adult female who was shot inside the residence. Officers conducted a protective sweep of the residence to ensure there were no other victims or suspects in the home. Once the residence was safe, Officers provided aid until Three Rivers Ambulance Authority and the Fire Department made the scene and took over providing medical attention. The Victim was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries.

FWPD Detectives are actively investigating the incident and piecing together information from the victim, witnesses, residential ring doorbell footage, and physical evidence at the scene. There is a potential person of interest.

This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.
