The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to a reported apartment fire in the 2500 block of Farnsworth Drive at 4:24 pm. When the first units arrived, they found smoke coming from the first floor at the end building. A small fire was found in a bedroom and quickly extinguished.
There were two children at home and had self-evacuated before crews arrived. A cat was recovered and returned to the apartment after it was clear and safe to do so.
The fire is still under investigation at the time of this report.
The Fort Wayne Police Department, Three Rivers Ambulance Authoirty, Neighborhood Code Enforcement and Animal Care and Control assisted firefighters.
