Preview of PBS GE documentary – 3/1/2020

PBS Fort Wayne hosting free preview of new General Electric documentary at Allen County Public Library Sunday, March 1

(February 13, 2020) – PBS Fort Wayne will preview its latest documentary, Electric Legacy: The Story of General Electric in Fort Wayne on Sunday, March 1 at 2:00pm in the Theatre at the Allen County Public Library Main Branch in downtown Fort Wayne.

This free public screening is co-hosted by the Allen County Public Library. Doors open at 1:30pm. The preview screening begins at 2:00pm.

Electric Legacy, a new documentary production from PBS Fort Wayne, takes the viewer on a journey through 140 years of Fort Wayne history connecting to people, places, and events in American history. It goes back to the origins of the company in the 1880s before becoming a part of General Electric and traces its evolution the story through the product developments of the 20th century, WWII production boom.

This presentation highlights the bonds that were formed among employees, the economic downturn of the 1980’s, the final closure of the Fort Wayne GE Campus in 2015, and the hope created by the Electric Works project.

PBS Fort Wayne’s Rob Rhodes, the producer of this documentary, will be on hand after the preview to take questions from the audience about his research and the process of making this documentary after the clips are shared.
