FWPD: Death Investigation

Death Investigation

Date: August 8, 2018
Time: 5:26 pm
Location: US 30 at the US 33 interchange
Victim: Adult Male (Deceased)
Suspect(s): None at this time
Details:
On August 8, 2018 shortly before 5:30 pm Officers of the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the area of eastbound US 30 at the US 33 Interchange in reference to a reported battery that had just taken place.
Initial information received was that a male subject had exited his vehicle and approached another vehicle at which time he began to hit the driver of the that vehicle and then got back into his vehicle and drove off.
Upon Officers arrival on scene Paramedics were already on scene and were providing medical care to the victim (adult male). Paramedics advised the Officers that the victim was in serious condition at this time. Prior to leaving the scene Paramedics advised Officers that the victim was now being downgraded to Critical Condition and they were going to be transporting to a local hospital. Upon arrival at the hospital Doctors pronounced the victim deceased.
Detectives were called to the scene and were speaking with witnesses to get further information in regards to this incident. Crime Scene Technicians were also called to the scene to assist in processing the scene for any possible evidence.

The identity of the victim as well as the cause and manner of death will be released at a later time by the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
This incident is being investigated by the Fort Wayne Police Department, Allen County Coroner’s Office, and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.
Agencies assisting in this incident are the Fort Wayne Fire Department and Three Rivers Ambulance Authority.
