Council candidate Michelle Chambers announces city-wide jobs program

(October 6, 2015) – Last Friday, Democratic City Council candidate Michelle Chamber announced her plan to create jobs for younger Fort Wayne citizens and ensure employers have talented local workers to hire. Her plan would pair young residents between 18 and 25 years old with existing local unions to provide the training, skills, and experience necessary to compete and keep Fort Wayne’s economy strong.

“Providing for our city’s future is vitally important. Fort Wayne has seen tremendous progress in the past decade; I’m running to serve Fort Wayne and ensure the progress continues in the decades to come,” said Chambers. “Our city is booming, with hundreds of skilled jobs up for grabs: We must equip our citizens with the skills to compete for those good-?paying jobs. I have experience overseeing large development projects, and I’m excited to ensure we provide a strong pool of highly-?skilled labor to help local businesses expand and entice new companies to call Fort Wayne home.”

Chambers owns two small businesses in downtown Fort Wayne. Previously, she was a senior government official in the City of Los Angeles in charge of a multi-? million dollar agency and oversaw redevelopment projects for the City of Carson. She holds both a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Masters in Public Administration.

Webmaster’s Note: Chambers is seeking one of the three City Council At Large seats this November.
