Game recap from the TinCaps:
TinCaps ReCap: TinCaps play in front of record crowd at Parkview Field
(July 4, 2015) – The largest crowd in Parkview Field history watched the TinCaps on Independence Day, but Fort Wayne fell to the Dayton Dragons, 6-0. On Saturday, 9,193 fans made it out to the ballpark, the 10th sellout of the season.
Over 200,000 fans have passed through Parkview Field’s gates this year.
Fort Wayne (6-4, 38-40) pitchers had allowed more than three runs in a game just once over its last 13 contests. But Dayton (5-5, 44-36) scored two first-inning runs off of starter Thomas Dorminy (L, 6-6) to take a lead.
The Dragons added one more in the third and another in the fifth to pull in front, 4-0. Their lead stretched to six runs after Garrett Boulware’s RBI single in the sixth frame.
Dragons starting pitcher Tyler Mahle (W, 8-5) scattered three hits over six innings of work. Michael Gettys tallied two of those hits, one being a double.
Taylor Cox made a fine return to Parkview Field on Saturday. The left-hander tossed two scoreless innings out of Fort Wayne’s bullpen, striking out one batter as well.
