News release from IPFW:

All 2015 Bachelor’s Graduates in Department of Nursing Passing Licensing Exam on First Attempt

(June 6, 2015) – All 37 of the 2015 Bachelor’s graduates from the Department of Nursing passed the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) on the first attempt. Five Master’s graduates passed their American Nurses Credentialing Center certification exams.

“Our nursing students are obviously bright, motivated, and thoughtful candidates,” said Lee-Ellen Kirkhorn, chair and professor of nursing. “Our Nursing Department faculty also deserve great credit for inspiring excellence and for creating a learning environment where students are coached and mentored to master complex information and to learn how to apply that content to their nursing practice.”

According to Kirkhorn, IPFW students typically score well above the national average of those attempting the exam for the first time. That average tends to be around 84%.

“A perfect pass rate is one measure of a program’s excellence, and we are also proud to say that employers also rate IPFW nursing students as excellent,” says Kirkhorn. “IPFW nursing students are making an important impact and are outstanding practitioners.”

In Indiana, the NCLEX-RN exam can be attempted up to four times. Candidates must wait at least 45 days before retaking it.
