Fort Wayne Police Need Robbery Suspects Identified

(March 13, 2015) – The Fort Wayne Police is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the two Dollar General robbery suspects captured in the attached surveillance photo. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 436-STOP (436-7867).

On 1/11/15 at approximately 0818 I responded to an armed robbery at Dollar General located at 3121 E State Blvd. Dispatch advised that two males left in a gray impala driving east toward Parkview Hospital. I arrived a few minutes later from the west.

I pulled up and could see the female employee, later identified as #########, standing at the front door on the telephone. I entered the store after she unlocked the door. She was crying and shaking badly and stated she was not hurt. She stated two males entered the store and took “lots” of cash and cigarettes.

######## stated she arrived at the store at approximately 0600 and began working until the store was to open at 0800. ###### stated she went to her car and while sitting in her car in front of the store a male black walked up to the locked door and pushed on it. She stated she opened her car door and informed him that the store did not open until 0800. She stated he said thank you and walked back toward the west end of the lot.

###### stated the male walked back in the store shortly after 0800 and walked to the rear of the store appearing to be a “normal shopper.” ##### stated he returned to the front of the store and was wearing a mask over his face and gloves and was holding a gun. He demanded the money from the cash drawers and the safe. He also asked about keys on the counter and she stated they were for the cigarette case. He took the keys and opened the case and placed several packs of cigarettes in two dollar general shopping bags and left the store.

I also spoke to a second employee, #########, who arrived on foot to the store and noticed a male “hustle” out the front door. ####### stated the male was walking toward a gray Impala and the second male driving drove toward the first suspect picking him up in the lot. ###### stated he did not notice anything disguising about the vehicle and described it as a “newer” “nice” light gray Impala. He saw the Impala leave the lot and head west on State.

###### stated another male who she described as the getaway person also entered the store and whispered to the original suspect. She stated he demanded she give up the phone which she did and he placed it in a shopping basket at the end of the checkout counter. ####### stated the second suspect also locked the doors behind him. She stated he was not wearing gloves so Officer Sloan offered to take prints of the door where ####### believed he touched.

###### contacted the store manager to assist with video. He made the scene and explained that he needed his supervisor’s assistance to work the video equipment. As of the time I cleared the investigation he has not been able to make contact with his supervisor.

I contacted the detective bureau and was advised that unit 423 would be making my scene.

I took 8 photographs of the store front, the checkout area and ########. I downloaded the photos in to the veripic system for continuity.

I cleared the scene after Unit 523 began interviewing the store employees.
