Ivy Tech Community College Northeast selects Executive Director of Resource Development

(January 6, 2015) – Ivy Tech Community College Northeast in Fort Wayne has selected Oliver Barie as its new Executive Director of Resource Development. He was previously serving as interim director since October and assumed his new role Jan. 1. In his role, Barie will serve as chief advisor to Chancellor Jerrilee K. Mosier, Ed.D., in the formation and execution of fundraising strategies, grant applications, and other sources of potential development at Ivy Tech Northeast.

Barie will develop, manage, and sustain a strong friend and fundraising program within the Ivy Tech Northeast nine-county region. He will identify and cultivate potential donors to the Ivy Tech Foundation; build partnerships with community groups, employers, customized training clients, foundations and individuals to further the mission of the College and bring in resources to support students, faculty, and programs; and develop and implement strategies to convert prospects to donors and to encourage continued giving by current donors.

“I am excited about the opportunity to lead Ivy Tech Northeast’s fundraising efforts. Our graduates earn the highest ROI in higher education with an average first-year earnings of more than $37,000,” says Barie. “By providing opportunities to students and working with local employers to constantly meet workforce demand, Ivy Tech Northeast has and will continue to be, a critical component to the success of northeast Indiana.”

“Oliver has an enthusiastic passion for the mission of Ivy Tech Community College. He is high energy and has exhibited a capability of working well with people throughout the Northeast region in raising Ivy Tech Northeast’s visibility,” says Chancellor Jerrilee K. Mosier, Ed.D. “I am very pleased to have him as a member Ivy Tech Northeast executive leadership team.”

Most recently, Barie started his own consulting firm, Starting Strategies. The firm specialized in 21st century marketing strategies for first- and second-stage companies as well as community outreach and donor relations. When he first moved to Fort Wayne, Barie accepted a position as Communications and Marketing Manager for Elevate Ventures, a non-profit venture capital firm based in Indianapolis. The firm managed more than $80 million in investment funds for the state of Indiana. Prior to moving to Indiana, he served as a political operative working for multiple federal and statewide campaigns including U.S. Senate, U.S. Congress, and New York State Governor. In addition, Barie served as assistant to the CFO at a midsized steel fabrication plant in Plattsburgh, N.Y., where he gained significant experience in business operations and advanced manufacturing. Barie graduated from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh with a B.S. in Political Science.
