Additional Free Student Matinees added to Embassy

(December 13, 2013) – Due to overwhelming response from area school teachers, the Embassy Theatre has added a second FREE performance to its Learn it Live program on Feb. 20, 2014. A noon (12 p.m.) show featuring Lightwire Theatre is now available to area school groups, educational organizations and the general public.

Lightwire Theatre utilizes electroluminescent creatures that light up the dark in two classic tales of self-worth, Hans Christian Andersen’s The Ugly Duckling and Aesop’s fable, The Tortoise and The Hare. Full body puppeteers and dancers dressed in black costumes lined with electroluminescent wire perform the story with music, prose and dance. This is truly a performance for all ages that is unique and dazzling. Lightwire has been praised for its cutting-edge blend of puppetry, technology and dance by audiences all over the world.

The Lightwire Theater performances are the 2014 offering of live theater for young audiences presented annually by the Embassy Theatre thanks to funding from the Lincoln Financial Foundation and Target. Additional support is provided by Arts United of Greater Fort Wayne, the Indiana Arts Commission, a state agency, and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.
