FWCS Seeks Input on School Choice

(November 5, 2013) – Fort Wayne Community Schools is asking parents and community members to provide critical feedback through a School Choice Survey to better understand what influences their decisions when choosing a school for their children.

The survey was launched in time for the School Choice Fair on Nov. 2 to allow attendees the first opportunity to take the survey. By obtaining data on the awareness of school choice options, the priority given to the school environment, measures of school success and the availability of student support services, the District can ensure that it is meeting the education needs of the entire community.

“Although our enrollment increased this year, we’re not taking anything for granted,” Superintendent Dr. Wendy Robinson said. “Parents have their choice of schools — both inside and outside of the District — and our goal is to maintain academic excellence by continuing to offer quality instruction, innovative programs and strong student support systems. This survey assists us in gauging the success of our efforts.”

Parents who have provided FWCS with an email address should have already received an email invitation to participate. The survey, designed and administered by independent technology and communication firm K12 Insight, will also be accessible through the Your Voice link on the FWCS website. The survey is available in both English and Spanish, and all responses are anonymous and confidential.

The survey closes on Friday, Nov. 22. The District will use the results of the survey for decision-making related to School Choice offerings.
