Victim: Laredo’s Restaurant
Loss: Cash Loss
Suspect Description(s): Two Male/Blacks; last seen wearing dark-colored clothing.
This morning, at approximately 9:03 am, the City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to 1854 Broadway Street, Laredo’s Restaurant, reference a report of a possible armed robbery in-progress. As one of the responding officers arrived in the area, the two perpetrators were fleeing from the restaurant, each in different directions. The officer pursued one of the perpetrators on foot but eventually lost sight of the perpetrator. A subsequent area search by officers and a canine track attempt were unsuccessful. At this time, the perpetrators remain at large.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the two perpetrators entered the restaurant and demanded cash from the register. One perpertrator was reportedly armed with a handgun, and the other perpetrator armed with a stun gun. Both perpetrators fled the scene and it was reported that as they were fleeing the two were shedding articles of clothing. The clothing items were discovered in the area when officers were surveying the area, along with other evidence from the scene of the crime; a roll of coins taken from the register, and a handbag that was taken from one of the restaurant employees.
Investigators continue to interview witnesses, and Crime Scene Technicians are processing the scene for possible evidence inside the restaurant.
There were no injuries reported at the scene. The incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department, and the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. Calls made to Crime Stoppers are anonymous and a cash reward is possible for information received.
