Urban League Scholarship Announcement

(August 30, 2011) – The Fort Wayne Urban League is proud to honor three college students with scholarships to assist with books and other school expenses. These three students are all members of the Urban League’s National Achievers Society and have financial need. 

The three students honored this year are:

Aaren Curry – a graduate of South Side High School, currently attending Spellman College and majoring in Dentistry
Rassan Ridley – a graduate of Paul Harding High School, currently attending Indiana State University and majoring in Fashion Design
LaQuasea Shepherd – a graduate of Wayne High School, currently attending The Art Institute in Indianapolis.

These scholarships are made possible by the generosity of Alan Grinsfelder.

Recognition presentation for students and parents:

Friday September 2, at 3:30 p.m. at 2135 S Hanna St, Fort Wayne 46803

Following the presentation, the Fort Wayne Urban League will host an informational session for parents and students on college planning. We invite all parents and students to attend this session from 4:00-5:00 p.m.

 

The Fort Wayne Urban League represents Allen County as a member of Indiana’s College Success Coalition, and is working to improve college access and success for minority and low-income youth in our community.
