Press release from Visit Fort Wayne:
Celebrate Fort Wayne’s Visitor Industry!
(May 9, 2011) – At the start of our busiest travel season, it is the right time to celebrate National Travel and Tourism Week, and the millions of visitors that we will host in Fort Wayne this year!
This week, the U.S. is celebrating National Travel and Tourism Week, as we look ahead to the summer travel season.
Here in Allen County, our Visitor Industry brings adds $466 million to Fort Wayne, Indiana, providing over 7,000 jobs and generating $13 million in local tax revenue. Travel is a broad and diverse industry employing a vast workforce, from hotel and restaurant employees to attraction, arts and entertainment workers. But it further supports workers in other industry sectors, such as construction, manufacturing and finance.
“At Visit Fort Wayne, we conduct programs to attract visitors to our destination’s convention and visitor facilities,” explains Dan O’Connell, President and CEO of Visit Fort Wayne. “We know that a prosperous industry results in the economic and social benefits that we all enjoy as a result.”
We are looking forward to another successful summer season, where our visitors can discover our family-friendly amenities, high-quality attractions, and affordable, convenient getaway opportunities.
