Allen County Republican Party to host Republican Mayoral Forum
(April 5, 2011) – The Republican Party of Allen County will host a Republican Mayoral Forum on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at 7:00-8:30 p.m.
Five candidates are campaigning for the Republican nomination for mayor of Fort Wayne: Liz Brown, Eric Doden, Paula Hughes, Frederick Osheskie, and Terrence Walker. Each candidate has agreed to participate in the event, which will be held at Andorfer Commons, Magee O’Connor Theater at the Indiana Institute of Technology, 1600 East Washington Boulevard, Fort Wayne, Indiana. The event is sponsored by the Allen County Young Republicans, the College Republicans groups in Allen County, the Allen County Teenage Republicans, and the Allen County Informed Republican Women’s Club, in coordination with the Allen County GOP’s Membership Committee.
“The Mayoral Forum provides our candidates the opportunity to showcase their positions on those issues that affect Fort Wayne the most,” says Allen County GOP Chairman Steve Shine. “This Forum is where voters can find out what the next mayor of Fort Wayne will do to improve their city.”
The moderator for the event will be Pat Miller of 1190 A.M. WOWO, and the panelists will include Tracy Warner of The Journal Gazette, Kevin Leininger of The Fort Wayne News Sentinel, Mark Mellinger of WANE-TV, and Ryan Elijah of WPTA-TV.
Candidates will sit in alphabetical order, and each presents a two-minute opening statement. In the first round of questioning, each panelist will ask a candidate a question, to which the candidate has two minutes to respond, and the remaining candidates each have one minute to respond. There will be a total of two rounds of questioning, followed by two-minute closing remarks from each candidate.
The Mayoral Forum will be open to the public.
