History Center’s 25th Festival of Gingerbread rousing success

(December 14, 2010) – This year’s Silver Anniversary of the Fort Wayne History Center’s Festival of Gingerbread was a huge success and topped records for attendance and dollars raised.

Now in its 25th year, the Festival, which raises money to support the History Center’s operations, has become a local holiday tradition for the many thousands who come annually to see the more than 100 fanciful gingerbread creations on display.

Lutheran Health Network was this year’s title sponsor.

Attendance during the 2010 Festival of Gingerbread attendance rose to over 11,000 with over $80,000 raised. Both totals are all time records for the event, said Todd Maxell Pelfrey, History Center executive director.

All revenues will be used toward programming and exhibit care at the History Center.

“Our sincerest thanks go out to the many visitors, supporters, sponsors, and volunteers who made the 2010 Festival of Gingerbread one for the record books” said Pelfrey.

Photos of many of this year’s creations can be found on the History Center’s Facebook page.

The History Center is located at 302 East Berry Street, Fort Wayne, Indiana. For more information, visit www.fwhistorycenter.com, or call 260.426.2882.
