Parks and Recreation press release:
BMX September Open Houses
Saturdays starting September 12
The Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation’s BMX track in Franke Park is having an open house 3 – 5 pm, September 12th, 19th and 26th. This is the perfect opportunity for the public to learn about BMX racing and to try it out for free.
Saturdays are also race days at the track. Registration is 6 – 7 pm, with the race following. The fee to race is $10 per rider.
Practices are now Fridays 6 – 9 pm. The cost is $3, but new riders get a free one-day pass.
Riders must wear a helmet, a long sleeved shirt and long pants. Pads are optional. There is a limited supply of bikes for rent at the track, but are distributed on a first come, first served basis. If using a bike from home, trick pegs, chain guards, kick stands and reflectors must be removed.
Franke Park BMX is a non-profit organization formed for the BMX riders of Fort Wayne and surrounding areas and is completely run by volunteers. New patrons are welcome. For more information, visit on-line.
