An Air Quality Action Day has been forecast for northeast Indiana for Saturday, August 15, 2009 for ozone. This includes the counties of Allen and Huntington and the city of Fort Wayne. Ozone levels are expected to be in the orange or Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups range. Active children and adults, and people with respiratory disease, such as asthma should limit prolonged outdoor exertion. This warning sure didn’t stop the chain saws from running on the two blocks of Calhoun Street this morning! What a tragic occasion! Next come the bulldozers to destroy the beautiful marble-topped planters. No thought to move them – like to the sidewalk in front of the Botanical Gardens ?
John – I learned this morning there are plans in the making to reuse the granite/marble in the same area. It is looking like the new use will be for seating.
