Tonight’s Botanical Roots Concert moved
Zion Lion Reggae at Civic Center Parking Garage

Due to the possibility of rain this evening, the Zion Lion Reggae concert at the Botanical Conservatory will take place in the Civic Center Parking Garage, located at the northeast corner of Calhoun Street and Jefferson Blvd.

Zion Lion is the “baddest” band to hit Kalamazoo, a combination of several bands from the Kalamazoo area that crossed paths along the way and decided to form a mix of reggae, zouk, soukous, and afro-latin influences. Admission: $6/ages 13 and up, free for ages 12 and under. Conservatory members admitted FREE. Doors open at 7:30 pm with the opening act at 8:30 pm. Sponsored in part by: Rock 104, Fort Wayne Metals, The Downtown Improvement District, Mad Anthony Brewing Company, One LuckyGuitar, the Downtown Hilton and Whatzup.

Next week’s Botanical Roots Concert on Friday, August 14 features Paul Cebar Tomorrow Sound, a band heavily into African, Latin, Caribbean, reggae, zydeco, R&B and soul styles.

  1. Another great show in a great series! Looking forward to more of them….especially the Buckwheat Zydeo show later this month. But all the bands are great….and the opening bands are local, and are the true gems in the series! The Afrodesiacs blew me away last Friday! Can’t wait for the next show…
