Press Release:

Councilwoman to address constituents

Fort Wayne City Councilwoman Karen Goldner, D-2nd will have a “State of the Second District” meeting on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. All interested members of the district and public may join Councilwoman Goldner at the Psi Ote Building, upper level, situated in Northside Park just off of Parnell Ave near State Blvd.

Ms Goldner will give an overview of accomplishments in the 2nd councilmanic district over the past year and a look ahead at what constituents can anticipate for their neighborhoods and the city in the coming year.

Free parking is available next to the building.

Journal Gazette mention:

[…] “It’s an update for folks about what is going on in city government from the perspective of the 2nd district,” Goldner said.

The three main topics she will cover are infrastructure, crime and the economy. Second-district residents are heavily affected by the $240 million city sewer project because many of the most extensive parts of the project are located in the district. Goldner will talk about those sewer infrastructure projects as well as street and sidewalk projects.

Residents are likely to want to discuss the recent reports of crime along East State Boulevard and the loss of several businesses in that area. Goldner, who served formerly as the city economic development director, plans to talk about those issues as well as what the city can do about economic issues.

  1. I believe Karen is doing an excellent job of representing the second district. She is in touch with concerns of the people and has proven time and again that not only does she listen, but also goes to bat to help solve the issues in an informed , educated, and professional manner. What an asset she is to whole community.

    • Yes, I definitely agree! I would add that her thoughtful questions during Council meetings, her willingness to stand up for local businesses and her insistence on fair treatment for all citizens make her not only an asset for the 2nd District, but also the entire City as well!
