Renovation began on the downtown King Gyros this week. The facade will be replaced as well as a stainless steel kitchen installed. I’d earlier reported that a patio will be added along Jefferson Boulevard. I misunderstood it’s position – it will be placed starting at the Southeast corner of the building and stretching Northwards taking up 2 and a half parking spaces.Â
The King Gyros owner shared with me they have been in the location for 20 years now. Previously it was a Penguin Point. This is the first renovation the building will undergo in 20 years. They were going to do this last year, however decided to wait until this summer. He is excited about the Harrison Square development and hopes that it will have a positive effect on his business and that people will buy into the ballpark.
The drive through will be opened this week, however starting next week, the entire restaurant will shut down for a brief time to allow remodeling of the kitchen.
