The National Arbor Day Foundation has awarded the Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation Department with its 30th consecutive Tree City USA designation.

In celebration of Arbor Day on April 24, and Fort Wayne’s 30th consecutive Tree City USA award, Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation will be sharing information daily about trees throughout the week of April 24.

Parks & Recreation Director Al Moll was joined by 2nd and 3rd graders from Waynedale Elementary School, City Councilman Mitch Harper, NIPSCO, Trees Indiana and Superintendent of Urban Forestry Chad Tinkel to celebrate Arbor Day by planting trees in front of Waynedale Elementary School on Elzey Street.
