Warrant Served, 3200 block of Warsaw Street
Date and time: June 23, 2015 at 3:10 p.m.
Location: 3200 block of Warsaw Street
Arrested: Ku-La Lwin, Male/21yo, Fort Wayne
On June 23, 2015, at 3:10pm, Detectives with the Fort Wayne Police Gang and Violent Crimes unit received information that Ku-La Lwin, a known gang member, was inside of a house in the 3200 block of Warsaw Street.
Detectives knew that Ku-La had an active warrant, was known to be armed, was on parole, and had information that there were weapons in the house. Detectives made contact with the residents of the house, who exited and confirmed that Ku-La was indeed inside. However, Ku-Law refused to cooperate with commands to exit.
Because of the weapons information, the Fort Wayne Police Emergency Services Unit and Crisis Response Team were requested to assist. Once on scene, police made numerous attempts to call the suspect on the phone, as well as using loud speakers to have the suspect exit the house. The suspect still refused.
After several hours of the suspect still not cooperating, police used a flash bang device, and tear gas, to try to motivate the suspect to surrender, but still got no cooperation.
Eventually, EST members entered the residence, and took Ku-La into custody. As per protocol, Ku-La will be checked out at a local hospital prior to being booked into the Allen County Lockup.
Any additional charges, if any, will be decided by the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.
This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.
