News release from Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation:
Foellinger Theatre Announces Reserved Concert Seating
Summer Concert Series RevealedFort Wayne Parks and Recreation Director Al Moll was joined by representatives from the Lincoln Foundation, MedPartners, Sweetwater Sound and media sponsors as he announced that patrons may now reserve seats for signature summer concerts at Foellinger Outdoor Theatre. Tickets are on sale on-line at www.fortwayneparks.org, in-person at the Parks & Recreation Main Office, 705 East State Blvd., or by phone at 427-6000.
“One of our goals is to provide quality, low-cost entertainment,” said Director Moll. “But convenience is important too. Most of the seats at the Theatre are excellent, but now those who purchase their tickets early for our signature concerts can choose their seats and not worry about waiting in line to get a premium spot.”
The concert season will open on May 21 with B.J. Thomas, who has sold more than 70 million records, earned two Platinum and 11 Gold records, and won five Grammy Awards. His hits include: “Raindrops Keep Fallin’ On My Head,” “Hooked on a Feeling,” and “Rock and Roll Lullaby.”
Herman’s Hermits, starring Peter Noone, will perform on June 25. At the age of 15, Peter Noone achieved international fame as “Herman,” lead singer of the legendary sixties pop band Herman’s Hermits. His classic hits include: “I’m Into Something Good,” “Mrs. Brown, You’ve Got A Lovely Daughter,” and “I’m Henry VIII, I Am.” Ultimately, Herman’s Hermits sold over 60 million recordings. In all, 14 singles and seven albums went gold.
Air Supply will take the stage on August 6. This early eighties soft rock group from Australia is known for their beautifully orchestrated, sweet ballads such as “All Out of Love,” “Lost in Love,” and “Even the Nights are Better.”
Two highly requested acts, Three Dog Night and The Lettermen, will return this summer, and three nationally-acclaimed tribute bands are back by popular demand: Hotel California, an Eagles tribute, Revolution, the Beatles tribute, and The Music of ABBA. The Celtic group, Cherish the Ladies and the World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra will also grace the stage.
Once again the Theatre will offer free family movies to the community, sponsored by 97.3 WMEE, kicking off the season with “The Last Airbender” on June 15. The schedule is filled with recent releases like “The Karate Kid,” “Tangled,” “Despicable Me,” and “Toy Story 3.”
The 2011 Foellinger Theatre Summer Concert Series is sponsored by Lincoln Financial Foundation, MedPartners, Sweetwater Sound, Fun 101.7 WLDE, PBS 39, WGL 1250 The River, Whatzup, Northeast Indiana Public Radio, Indiana Arts Commission and Arts United.
