Methodism Wraps Up IPFW Christian Mosaic Series
(March 3, 2011) – Methodism will complete the year-long Christian Mosaic series of the Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) University Religious Forum. Bishop Mike Coyner, presiding bishop of the Indiana Conference of the United Methodist Church, will lead the discussion on “Understanding Methodism.” The lecture forum will take place Thursday, March 17, from noon to 1:15 p.m. on the second floor of Helmke Library. The forum is free and open to the public.
Coyner was elected bishop of the United Methodist Church in 1996. In 2004 and 2008, he was assigned to serve Indiana as the presiding bishop. He oversees the life and ministry of over 1,200 United Methodist congregations in Indiana, including 227,000 members. Coyner earned a Doctor of Ministry from Drew Theological School and has received honorary doctorates from Dakota Wesleyan University, the University of Evansville, and the University of Indianapolis. He is the author of four books including Making a Good Move and A Year With John Wesley and Our Methodist Values.
A simple lunch is served; donations are accepted. Reservations are not necessary. The series is sponsored by IPFW Campus Ministry.
