Purple Heart Recipient And U.S. Army Combat Veteran Danielle Green To Speak In Fort Wayne On Nov. 18

Fort Wayne, Indiana (November 2, 2026) – The Northeast Indiana Base Community Council (NIBCC) is proud to welcome Danielle Green, U.S. Army combat veteran, Purple Heart recipient, and Pat Tillman Award for Service honoree, as the featured keynote speaker for its upcoming Luncheon Speaker Series on Wednesday, November 18, 2026, at Ceruti’s (6601 Innovation Blvd, Fort Wayne, IN 46818) in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Check-in begins at 10:30 a.m., with the program starting promptly at 11:30 a.m.

Raised on the South Side of Chicago, Green earned a basketball scholarship to the University of Notre Dame, where she overcame injuries and adversity to become the 14th-leading scorer in program history. Following graduation, she enlisted in the U.S. Army and deployed to Iraq as a military police officer. In 2004, Green was critically wounded in a rocket-propelled grenade attack, resulting in the loss of her dominant arm.

Rather than allowing tragedy to define her future, Green transformed her experiences into a powerful message of resilience, leadership, and perseverance. She went on to earn a master’s degree in counseling and dedicated 12 years to the Department of Veterans Affairs, helping fellow veterans navigate their own challenges.

Today, Green inspires audiences nationwide through her “No One Climbs Alone” philosophy, emphasizing the importance of community, meaningful connections, and rebuilding through adversity. Her remarkable journey has earned national recognition, including the prestigious Pat Tillman Award for Service.

Green also made history as the first female combat veteran featured as a playable character in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, helping raise awareness of veteran employment initiatives.

In addition to Green’s keynote address, local military base commanders will be in attendance and provide updates on their respective installations, sharing important information about ongoing initiatives, accomplishments, and activities within Northeast Indiana’s military community. This provides attendees with a valuable opportunity to hear directly from local military leadership and strengthen connections between the military, business, and civilian communities.

The event will be emceed by Kayla Blakeslee of WOWO Radio and is open to community members, business leaders, military personnel, veterans, and supporters of the military community.
