More than 1,300 volunteers will come together on August 21, 2026, for United Way of Allen County’s 35th Annual Day of Caring.

Bigger Projects. More Partners. One Community: United Way’s 35th Annual Day of Caring Brings Community Together
Fort Wayne, Indiana (August 18, 2026) – More than 1,300 volunteers will come together Friday, August 21, for United Way of Allen County’s 35th Annual Day of Caring, completing 60 community service projects throughout Allen County.
This year’s event reflects the growing power of community partnership, with larger-scale projects, new organizations participating as volunteer teams and project hosts, and new sponsors helping expand the reach and impact of the annual event.Day of Caring will kick off at Parkview Field with breakfast at 7:30 a.m., followed by the presentation of the 2025 Campaign Awards at 8:15 a.m. United Way will recognize Chris Fedele, Sethe Dierkes, Evan Schoof, Nelson Coats, Zach Stauffer, Indiana Agriculture & Technology School – Fort Wayne, Franklin Electric, Indiana Michigan Power, Lutheran Social Services of Indiana, and 3Rivers Federal Credit Union for their exceptional efforts in serving the community.
“Day of Caring has always been a powerful example of what can happen when our community comes together, and this year, that spirit of collaboration is stronger than ever.,” said Brandi Buck, Executive Director of United Way of Allen County. “We have larger projects, new organizations stepping up as volunteers and project hosts, new sponsors investing in the effort, and more partners working together to make a difference. It’s a reminder of what can happen when our community brings people, resources and talents together to address our community’s needs.”
Projects this year will include a wide range of hands-on service throughout Allen County. Volunteers will build a wooden playhouse and complete landscaping at Brightpoint Head Start East Wayne, plant shade trees and refresh landscaping at Vincent Village, help restore the Vietnam Wall at the Veterans National Memorial Shrine and Museum, make improvements at Girls Scouts Camp Agnes S. McMillen, and complete updates at Gigi’s Playhouse and Safety Village.
Day of Caring projects include cleaning, landscaping, painting, supply drives, construction and general maintenance. Projects take approximately four to eight hours to complete, with volunteer teams ranging from five to 90 people. Work will take place at nonprofit agencies, organizations, schools, and private residences recommended by NeighborLink.
