Fort Wayne Drops Series Finale at Home

Fort Wayne, Indiana (August 9, 2026) – The Fort Wayne TinCaps lost Sunday afternoon’s contest at Parkview Field 8-2 against the West Michigan Whitecaps (Tigers affiliate).

Fort Wayne (46-60, 19-21) got scoreless outings from reliever Will Koger and Braian Salazar in the defeat. Koger gave up one hit in 2 ⅓ frames and has not allowed a run in seven of his last eight appearances dating back to July 11. Salazar has not allowed a run in five consecutive outings across nine innings since July 22. The southpaw leads the TinCaps in games pitched this season, having tossed in 36 contests.

West Michigan (48-58, 24-18) scored six of its runs in the first four innings in its fifth win of the series. Shortstop Woody Hadeen reached base in three of his five plate appearances, which included a two-run double in the second inning. Hadeen finishes the series 10-for-22 with a pair of four-hit performances.

Left fielder Beau Ankeney launched his third home run of the season and the series in the ninth inning. The Whitecaps finish the week with 12 long balls, including a franchise-record seven on Wednesday night.

Right-hander Connor Fenlong picked up the win for West Michigan in his third start with the club this year. The righty allowed one hit in 5 ⅓ scoreless innings and struck out six batters. Fenlong has worked four innings or longer in each of his three appearances with the Whitecaps in 2026.
