On July 23, 2026, the Fort Wayne Police Department Homicide Task Force arrested Davareion Gentry and Duane Stevenson III at separate locations in connection with the Southcrest Road shooting investigation.

Fort Wayne Police Department incident Report Details/Summary:
On July 6, 2026, at approximately 3:59 a.m., Fort Wayne Police Department officers responded to the 6000 block of Southcrest Road regarding a reported shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a juvenile victim who was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
Following a thorough investigation, the FWPD Homicide Unit identified two suspects: 24-year-old Davareion Gentry and 18-year-old Duane Stevenson III.
On July 23, 2026, the Fort Wayne Police Department Homicide Task Force located Gentry and Stevenson III at separate locations within Fort Wayne and took them into custody. Both individuals were preliminarily charged with Attempted Murder, Aggravated Battery, and Criminal Recklessness – Shooting into an occupied dwelling. They were transported to the Allen County Jail
