On June 24, 2026, the Fort Wayne Fire Department was dispatched to a house fire in the 2600 block of Freeman Street, Fort Wayne, Indiana.

The occupant of a home on the southwest side of Fort Wayne was alerted to a small fire in the house by a smoke detector this morning. Several 9-1-1 calls also reported smoke coming from the house as well. The only occupant safely self-evacuated. The home was searched for additional occupants and none were found. Fort Wayne Fire Engine 2 extinguished a small kitchen fire that extended into an attic space.
No injuries occurred at this incident, and the cause is under investigation.
