Registration Opens for Free Tree Seedlings
Bare root trees, ready to plant for Arbor DayFort Wayne, Indiana (April 8, 2026) – In celebration of Arbor Day 2026, Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation in partnership with Trees Indiana will offer 200 seedlings to the public (one per household) via a simple phone registration.
White Pine and Chestnut Oak tree seedlings will be offered to those who register on a first come first served basis. Those who want a free tree seedling should call 260-427-6000 during normal business hours now through April 22 to reserve a seedling. The bare root seedlings must be picked up on Friday, April 24, from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Franklin School Park at 1903 St. Mary’s Avenue.
Trees are an asset to communities when planted properly and maintained. They help improve visual appeal in a neighborhood, increase property values, reduce home cooling costs, remove air pollutants and provide habitat for wildlife, among many benefits.
