FWPD: Barricaded Subject, 6800 Baer Road

On February 16, 2026, at 1035 hours, the Fort Wayne Police Department was dispatched to a residence in the 6800 block of Baer Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana, regarding an armed subject that was suffering from a mental health crisis.

Details/Summary:

Officers of the Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) responded to a house in the 6800 block of Baer Road
regarding an armed subject suffering from a mental health crisis. Arriving officers attempted to convince the subject to come out so they could be taken for a mental health evaluation. When this attempt to de-escalate the situation failed, the Emergency Services Team (EST), the Crisis Response Team (CRT), and the Air Support Unit (ASU) were called to the scene.

CRT established phone contact with the individual and just after 1:30 PM, the individual came out of the house and was taken into custody. The individual was then transported to a hospital for a mental health evaluation and treatment.

There is no further threat to the public.
